Today Marks the 90th Anniversary of the Discovery of Insulin

On July 27, 1921, Frederick Banting and Charles Best succeeded in their quest to find a form of life support for people living with diabetes. Rightfully so, the discovery of insulin earned Frederick Banting the Nobel Prize in Physiology of Medicine.

I am currently reading Breakthrough: Elizabeth Hughes, The Discovery of Insulin, and the Making of a Medical Miracle by Thea Cooper and Arthur Ainsberg. It gives great insight as to the hardships and struggles these two endured to find this life-saving medication. There are many times that they could have given up and walked away, but they were dedicated to their research and persevered in hopes of saving lives.

Frederick Banting and Charles Best are the reason that millions of people living with diabetes have a fighting chance at healthy lives. I am forever grateful.
Novolog insulin cake pops would be perfect for this celebration!
